school bus ten frame with kids

Use this math ten frame to help your children learn counting skills! Put the numbers 1-5 in a container and draw out a number. If the number is 2, put two "friends" on the bus in the windows. There is a top window and a bottom window to fill with friends. I have "friends" provided, but you can use foam circles and add a face to make different friends!

school clothespin word spell

Print out these cards and laminate (more will come when I draw the images). Label clothespins with the appropriate letters to spell the words. Students clip the clothespin on the correct letter to spell these school words!

Apple calendar pieces

crayon color match

Cut out the crayons and laminate. Place each crayon on the appropriate spot on the chart! Encourage colour recognition with your students!

crayon graphing and spinner

Use this spinner to play a graphing game! Print it on cardstock, and laminate. Then, use a pin to poke through the middle of the circle. Place a paperclip on a brad, and put the brad through the hole. Bend the clips from the brad and flick the spinner! If you land on a green crayon, put an object (i.e. foam piece) in the correct column on the graph!

Racoon Graphing and spinner

This activity is based on the book "The Kissing Hand" that was written by Audrey Penn. It is a great book to read at the beginning of the year. Use this game to complement the story.

See the Kissing Hand page for more ideas!

Crayon number flip book

To make this flip book, cut out the rectangles, and paper punch where the circles are. Then, put rings (shower curtain rings or rings from office supply stores, or chicken rings from the farm shop) through the holes to make a flip book. Keep a front cover from one of the plain rectangles. Keep the pictures on one ring, the words on another and the numbers on another. Make sure you mix up the order so that the children have to flip to match the appropriate picture/word/number together!
